On my first school day in Germany, I was up in front of students teaching. That was 6 days ago.
My first week here has been amazing. I have already seen so much, taken over teaching one of my classes, and added a few phrases to my vocabulary. There have been ups (successfully navigating the town alone and without my translator), and downs (crashing a bike into bushes and falling down a flight of stairs), but by far the Feldmann family is making my time in Germany the best experience ever.
Christian, Simone, Marvin, and Anna have welcomed me with open arms. Even their dog, Ben, has done his part to welcome me to the family. As a matter of fact, he's laying beside me on the couch right now. Last night, we went to Simone's brother's house to celebrate his wife's birthday, and on Saturday we made a trip to Dortmund so I could see the mall (and buy Borussia Dortmund souvenirs). Tonight Anna is baking and it smells delicious. Before I leave, I have planned to cook for them something we eat in America, so bring on the suggestions!
According to the Feldmanns, Weather in Germany this time of year is rainy and miserable. This morning by the time I made it to school, I was soaked! And that was with an umbrella and raincoat. However, by the afternoon the rain had left us, so Meghan and I took an adventure to the town center where we ate, explored, and of course took pictures.
