Meghan and I were not planning on taking a trip to the City of Love while we were here. There is far too much to see and we had to narrow down the choices to what we can see in one weekend. With this said, let me first tell you I am safe and unharmed, as we chose to stay in Germany this weekend. Last night, around 11 pm local time, I was heading to bed when my host mother came to my room, for what I thought was to tell me goodnight.
"Rachel, have you heard about Paris?!"
"We weren't planning on going." I thought she was suggesting we plan our weekend trip for Paris.
"No, look!"
I saw the news and immediately, I felt the need to call my mother to let her know I was safe.
To say I didn't sleep well last night would be an understatement. I was scared. For the first time, I felt that being an American was like having a target on my head. Into the wee hours of the morning I emailed family and the few people who knew my whereabouts to let them know I was alright. The university emailed me asking for my location, which made me feel better that WKU keeps up with its own.
